So, Typhan-Knee’s clan kidnapped Neils’ sister… and made her one of their own, so that she wouldn’t be counted among the “foreigners” during the massacre? I don’t know if it’d be brilliant or disappointing if it turns out that Tiffany was a girl at birth who got changed into a boy afterwards.
Few things ,Yes there Vikings or maybe Saxons no redeeming qualities, Good I like a Straight up bad Guys,Also Explains Tiff curse being White Magic, Really Is Justice. Sounds Like her whole race deserves a Gender swap.
Long time ago (I forget were I read it ) Tiff said she was the Clan chiefs Daughter. SO that might be why it was IMPORTANT. Neil is BLOND.That and Neil clearly one of the most powerful Swordsmen in creation, That his niece/Nephew might be the same. So Tiffs ether the son/daughter of Niels Sister and Rapist or the Child of her Killer.
Ugly side thought ,What If its Tiffs half Bother? What if hes Clan Chief? For that matter what if hes her Full brother And Had his own brother Killed? Why ask Hitler his Dad was a Illegitimate Jew and his Grandmother Mom or mother molodo. There was a argument for years about the Jewish part then they Ran the DNA. Black and Jewish nearly no Aryan master race in Adolf. So he saw him self as a genetic mistake. We always hate whats in are selves!
So both are Possible. Tiffany LEFT His tribe for some reason maybe because of foreign Blood Because his Bother to make him self more Pure Ordered his own mothers Death?
Not that unlikely history shown it dose happen. And this is the guy who PAYED to have his Sister killed. (killing I get trans gender sister a problem for macho Race) but Worriers would do it them selves not hire a forien Assassin Stinks of cowardness. Yep a racist tin plated dictator.
On a side Note I wonder how powerful that White Magic Spells become as it occurred to me that other than there gender The entire race act Like Amerzons…. Bh haa hah ha ha ha ha.
… hrmmm, plot thickening dilemmas… I will call it that Neils’ sister is either the adopted sister of Typhan and brother or more startling; step mother. Even more so the wife/concubinage of either Typhan/brother or their father chief. Lastly, could be the servant/serf. Aside from all those theories; will assuime there is some close physical relation to Neils’ sister and thus after Faeden’s curse hit Typhan turning him into Tiff, she took on the appearance of what Neils’ sister actually looks like in the present day (or DID if GrimGhost is correct and that she is dead now.)
I will make a further assumption that Neils’ sister is younger. From what is visible of Neils profile, both he and Typhan look maybe 30 or so, where Tiff, looks slightly younger than 30.
…Granted trying to determine the difference between age 20 to 30 in comics.
Could it be that Typhan Knee was a girl at birth? I’m thinking that chiefs want boys instead of girls. That could explain why Tiffany is unable to change back to his former self. Also we don’t know what age Niels sister was when she was taken. It could be possible that Tiff and Niels are siblings (highly unlikely, but possible.)
Ok, so Neils has a grudge against Typh’s clan. A good one.
Way I understand it. Old clan chief, we need more women. LOOK. There’s a beautiful girl, unwed, on that farm. GET HER! (Burns down farm, kills father and mother, takes girl, son somehow survives.)
New Chief: GAH! Too many foreigners corrupting our pure/ superior gene pool. KILL THE WITCH!
Neils said it happened 20 years ago, if his sister pubescent at the time or older, say in her twenties, it is entirely possible that Typhan-Knee was her child if we judge Typhan-Knee to be at least 18.
probably a decent understanding however I would point out that I don’t think the girls “Unwed” condition had anything to do with it.. more or less it was grab the attractive breeding stock and kill anyone that tries to stop you.
When he says ‘hers’ it could refer to Typhan-nee, OR his sister (adopted? Runaway barbarian mother? Half-sister left with the mother via a previous ‘raid’?)
That seems to be a plot-twist no one’s suggested yet :p
“Where is it written that Neils is a generation older than Tiff? Both look to be early twenties.”
We have not seen Neil’s face. Easy enough for sister to be oldest (eg she was 18 and he was 6), and gives birth to Tiff one year later, which would make Neil only perhaps 7 years older than Tiff.
Dear God, I feel like I’m reading the assumptions to a plot twist in an M. Night Shyamalan movie. The going assumptions seem to be:
1) Tiff is Neils’ niece/step-niece (thanks to his sister being either her mother or step-mother)
2) Neils’ sister is Tiff’s adopted or (for some reason) half-sister (somebody threw that out)
3) Neils’ sister was kidnapped by Tiff’s clan and “made one of them” (which could fit with either of the two previous theories)
4) Neils’ sister is just plain dead
I’ll throw out theory number 5, the f*cked up one:
5) Neils and Tiff are of similar ages, but Tiff is still Neils’ niece, because Neils’ sister was kidnapped, but before she was killed, a time (plot) hole opened up, and she was sucked back to before Tiff was born, and thus Tiff’s father impregnated her, creating Tiff
Feel free to ignore theory number 5, but discuss it if you wish.
My best friend in highschool had a roughly 10 year old niece who he had to babysit form time to time. We were like 17 or so So…
(his parents married like the year out of highschool or something(something about a draft i think but not sure if were kidding) and had the sister a couple years after, he was obviously born alot later, and to compound it the sister married young)
So would you consider 17 and 10(or 32 and 25) to be about close enough for your estimate of Neil’s and Typhon’s age range and your feeling they are in the same generation?
___________________________________________________________________
So if that age gap happens easily enough in middle class white Americans today (outside of a shotgun wedding situation) it’d more easily happen in pseudomedieval farming family(which would tend to be large enough for a good age range in children to be almost guaranteed) and when the daughter’s reproduction possibly/likely not voluntary what with the barbarian raid/kidnapping and their murder of her parents and such…
I mean his parents were like 70 or something silly like that in highschool but… I guess they had him late 40s out of left field or something.
And maybe the kid was a bit younger when we were a bit older than I remember now that I think of it….
A few pages back, Chemiclord said that one of the theories espoused on the page was dead on right. The theories I noticed while rereading that page are the following, the first four written by me. 😉
1) They are brothers. Well, brother and sister now. Which goes into 1a) and 1b), 1a being that he is the one who put out the hit on her and is going with her to kill her along the way. 1b being that he didn’t, and he’s actually coming along to protect the princess.
2) They are some other relation. Perhaps even Tiff’s son. If so, he’s got an axe to grind either with Tiff or someone else in the “dear family.” Both 1 and 2 actually give a reason for why he is so hard to hit with magic. I could see the king “domesticating” barbarians and turning them into good guardians. It’s what he’s doing with Tiff. Why does she have to be the first? 😉
3) From left field, maybe both guards are dragons that have had their transformations halted. That would also explain their strength and magical defenses, and would explain why Urtica hasn’t gone ape slag over Denver yet. Maybe he’s looking for a third guard. 😉
4) Everything is a coincidence. I don’t trust that option, so I don’t really consider it.
5) Neils is a Golem, put together after the death of his family.
1 is still a possibility looking at what is going on now. We’ve got more info, but I could make a case for a story that Tiff was born a girl (Neil’s sistor), was turned guy by some unknown enchantment to escape the “kill all the foreigners” chief, and instead of being changed into a girl by everybody’s favorite wizard, he wiped out the enchantment. Now, the issue with that idea is all the other people who have been affected by the curse, so it is a weaker theory. But I have no doubt that if wished, an explanation for that could be written. It’s what story tellers do. 😉
2 I think is the strongest theory. They are related in some way. It certainly seems to be where the story is heading.
3 I doubt. Dragons tend to have no memory of what happened because they weren’t there yet. Neils remembers.
4 is possible. Coincidence. However, stories rarely use that because it makes the stories less interesting. So I am leaning against it.
5, him being a Golem is also very possible. Maybe he really did die, and was reanimated somehow by Urtica or someone else.
thought I should point out the guessing about Neil’s sisters Age Might be a bit off. 18 for breading stock?
Try this they see and catch her as 12 year old for breading stock and she gives birth at 13 to Typhan-Knee.
These guys seem to be straight up bad guys do not see them letting a little thing like age limits stop them. These guys are Murders and Rapists ..typical Raiders.
Um…I’m gonna throw out a longshot alternate theory that no one is considering. All Neils said was “hers”. If you look at the panel, both Tiff and Peonie are in the picture…
@Grim. I’m not a fan of the golem theory. But it was one of the theories stated before chemiclord said that one of the theories was correct, so I wanted to be complete. 😉
Of all the theories I find most interesting are the “Neils and Tiff are brother and sister (again)” and the “Tiff is the daughter of Neil’s sister” angle.
The first has some very interesting twists. Is Neils the brother who contracted her death? Or another brother? Twists and turns. 😉
The second one, or the more generic “Tiff and Neils are related” angle I think is the most possible. And it brings up a question. Neils said a new clan leader executed all the foreigners. Have we ever learned who the clan leader is? A possible story for this is is that the previous clan leader nabbed Neils sister. She had a kid. Let us say for now that kid is Tiff. Clan leader dies. The full blooded barbarian clan leader’s son becomes clan leader. Never did like Neils sister, OR TIFF for that matter. Has all foreigners killed. Tiff leaves (either before or after this edict…it is actually possible if Tiff has been gone long enough that he/she doesn’t even KNOW the clan leader has been replaced) and some time later begins to work for Urtica to get Peonie away from everybody’s favorite psychopathic wizard. If this is accurate, a REALLY interesting story possibility comes up. Tiff is daughter of chief. Tiff kills her brother in person, for being a coward and sending an assassin, then takes over clan. Macho chauvinistic barbarian clan now ruled by woman. Hilarity ensues as they try to make sense of the world. Urtica, if he knows who Tiff is and if he knows her brother is now clan leader, could be sending her north to make himself a new ally in the north, therefore cementing his position as the most badass schemer in the world.
That whole story idea is one speculation on top of another, and there are many more possibilities out there. It is simply a possible run of events that makes me giggle. And me giggling is a scary sight to see. And Exiern makes me giggle often with its story lines. So I simply looked for what would make me giggle and wrote it down. 😉
I don’t really know what theory to support but i pretty sure neil’s being a golem is out of the question, I can probably find a few reason to back me up with this, but mostly it because he will lose some badass points for being a golem, A specter i could take but being a golem is just so dull.
Really Like to know what the King did to get such Loyalty from Neil.
Knights are supposed to be Loyal near fanatical , But Neils way beyond Fanatical (Kingsman is the term ,Like a Paladin in rolemaster pen&paper RPG But follows a king instead of a God. Or sees the King AS GOD!)
I Get the idea if the king said Slay God, Neil would not even blink just start Looking for a long enough Ladder to get to Heaven.
There are many possible reason why neil’s could be so loyal to the king, but i’m pretty sure the king just talked him into it, and considering how he almost succeeded with royal wedding plan convincing, buying, or earning neil’s loyalty with words wouldn’t be to hard for him.

I knew it!
The plot thickens.
Well, that was predictable…
Please, don’t let Neil’s sister turn out to be:
a) a rotting corpse. (Neils might go berserk and attack the entire clan, adding to Tiff’s problems.)
b) Tiff’s brother’s wife.
c) Typhan-Knee.
Neils’ sister can’t be Typhan-knee. Neils’ sister is Typhan-knee’s mother.
Where is it written that Neils is a generation older than Tiff? Both look to be early twenties.
…Or this subplot is a clever red herring.

yep, was already obvious for awhile, so i’ll say again. neils = typhon’s uncle.
