Well obviously, she’s like GLaDOS – A female personality uploaded into an artificial intelligence…hopefully she doesn’t have access to any deadly neurotoxin….
Ah, hmm! It apparently _was_ the book talking, in a sense. This is, most likely, the book that Faden accidentally changed Typh to Tiff with, and which summoned the unicorn. It’s also the same book that keeps calling Tiff a bimbo. If the book is that wise, perhaps the bimbo remarks were prescient of the future-which-is-now – a foreshadowing of Tiff’s current sexy-but-useless status? Or maybe the book’s intent was to turn her into a small white teddy bear with a chef’s hat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Grupo_Bimbo_Logo.jpg) – but the comic wouldn’t be anywhere near as good then.
M – I always export two version of the page – one at full resolution and one shrunk down so it appears correctly here – and you’re right…when I view it on this computer this one looks “scrunched” like the big version had been uploaded by accident. When I get home I’ll check the files and upload the small one if I did indeed grab the wrong one by accident. Not sure what else may be causing the tearing…
Ahhh, a wonderful joke and reference. He knows she’s fake because well… the cheesecake is a lie. And what is cheesecake? We also know it as fanservice and apparently so does he. 😛
That said it will be interesting to see where this goes. Particularly now that the Fractured have finished with the main cast.
Was there a strip I missed when reading through the archives (I first found the comic on the last update)? The last I saw of the REAL Mira was when the bear-shifter lady was calling for a medic. The Fractured never seemed to have had their hands on her. One strip she was apparently dead (or badly injured) and the bear queen was ordering someone, and the next she’s standing with Ctyx in the castle passage.
Well it may be her, physically, but with a Fracture Remote Control Bracelet on…which would be consistant with what we’ve seen so far…the Fracture may have kidnapped her from the medics, much like the “Kidnapped” Ctyx in an earlier scene.
I don’t get to say this that often, not with Exiern anyway but: Called it! XD
Awesome Portal reference, with a twist. Also, I have to poke Hikaro, because I know it’s part of the song, except…. read those lyrics again. In context here. ^^
“By the way, that cake was great! So delicious and moist!”…………… Mira? You have a mind far more naughty than I gave you credit for XD
@Ambaryerno Yep, that was the last we saw of Mira, the palace cleaning ladies speculated that her body had never been found (and we all know the only thing less accurate than gossip is FOX). Some people think that despite being told the Golems mould their appearance to the viewer, and that despite being shown little girl is a full metal golem when seen by someone not Ctyx, that she is still Mira anyway, which is pretty dumb.
@CrypticMirror, the problem I have with that is that Niels looked at her and definitely saw a little girl, not a golem but a young girl. While it makes sense of most stuff your theory gives no reason why he’d see a girl he never met instead of the golem.
I’m going with Mira is dead. In one of the previous panels the guards referenced that Cytx was wanted for questioning about the death of a young girl (paraphrasing here of course). So it seems that we’ve been told the girl is dead…which would explain why in another previous panel we saw the bear/man person in a dungeon with shackles on…arrested for murder.
in case you wanted to reference the scenes I’m talking about, here they are
apparently I missed a panel (the one with the housekeepers and the hyper one mentions that the girls body is gone even though everyone thought she was dead…so disregard that one.
Now, these points of interest about Mira and her death make a beautiful line, and dammit, we’re all antsy to find out, so release the next page AHEAD of time!
Actually, Chris, so far there were only RUMORS that she was killed…until she turned up with the fracture, the last solid information we had about her was she was clawed, and the bear princess was asking for healers.
We know the necklace isn’t in the hoard room…Tiffie is wearing it here: http://www.exiern.com/?p=1255 – though it pretty much disappears over the course of the next two pages…maybe snitched by someone at the ball?
well, Hikaro, in a way they are. Tiff and Theresa are both really males that were changed. So technically, their current forms are a lie. Either way, the next few pages should be interesting =)
Yes, they were both ORIGINALLY males. Neither is a male at this point. And Ambaryerno has a point: Why would the book tell Ctyx about Tiffany and Theresa when he doesn’t even know who either one of them is? “Good God, the cheesecake is a lie? This CLEARLY is talking about two women who are really men that I’ve never even met!”
No, no. Not really. That’s kinda how I live my life. I go from A to B, and C through Z come somewhere in between. Life’s a tree, gotta visit all the branches.
Undoubtedly someone will bring up the point of “but magic users aren’t affected by the masks, so Mira must be real!” But who explained that? Mira did. She wouldn’t have told him anything to make him suspect otherwise, and there has been nothing from anyone to say she’s real except what she has said herself. But since she’s with the Fracture, there’s absolutely no way of knowing anything about her for sure. Honestly, I think Ctyx has been looking at the operational end of the mask-devices for far too long…
I see this as, the girl is dead. The Fractured made her, gave her the personality, and she thinks she really is Mira (maybe not, not sure)… but is really a fake.

“You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.”
I’d say “Mira” did just that – run out of cake.
Isn’t this the ‘Magic book of unpredictable content’ Faden used to summon the unicorn?
The cheese cake is a lie? No! I ate some of that! Dammit!
Oh, hey, Dullahan, was that a Portal reference?
Mira seems uncannily able to open and close the flood gates at will.
that is the book that makes fun of you
you heard the book kill the cake!
lol! Love the subtle poke at Portal.
I love that book, it’s just so incredibly rude.
By the way, that cake was great! So delicious and moist!
Hmm the image has weird unaliased artifacts coz it’s been shrunk to fit the page.
I like that it’s a big image and so when I view it alone the comic looks great, but the squishing artifacts make the text blurry.
just sayin.
Well obviously, she’s like GLaDOS – A female personality uploaded into an artificial intelligence…hopefully she doesn’t have access to any deadly neurotoxin….
Well, Luthor, we all know that there’s no sense crying over every mistake…
I’m being so sincere right now, even though you, Elfguy, broke my heart and killed me!

Well, it may have a double meaning like either the girl is a fake the the book have lie to the boy as a joke like the book was mean to Tiff.
No, you lie! YOU LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!

Ordering someone to help her, that is.
Well it may be her, physically, but with a Fracture Remote Control Bracelet on…which would be consistant with what we’ve seen so far…the Fracture may have kidnapped her from the medics, much like the “Kidnapped” Ctyx in an earlier scene.

I’m pretty sure Mira was clawed in the arm so she’s prob alive.
Provided she got medical attention that is
Thank you, Thaylien… Yes, I do have a naughty mind. Now, look at me still talking when there’s science to do.
Ah, all this Portal referencing was a triumph. I’m leaving a note here, to success.

Givin that Niels got enchanted by the gelatin sisters in about 5 secs I dont think his enchantment resistence is high as the rest.
Now this was really a triumph and a huge success 🙂

Hmn…I wonder….that bracelet turned up around the time Tiffie’s necklace disappeared…could it be…?
um gentlemen, i do not think the book is really talking about mira at all, i’m thinking its refering to tiff and terisa.
Why? They’re not lies.
well, Hikaro, in a way they are. Tiff and Theresa are both really males that were changed. So technically, their current forms are a lie. Either way, the next few pages should be interesting =)
What reason would the book have to tell Ctyx anything about Tiff and Theresa at this point? It’s wholly irrelevant to his goals.

I guess we have to do what we must, because we can.
hikaro, has this crazy thing ever gone in a straight line from point a to b without a lot of diversions?
No, no. Not really. That’s kinda how I live my life. I go from A to B, and C through Z come somewhere in between. Life’s a tree, gotta visit all the branches.

Why has no one assume the book is talking about the boy (his name skips me atm). He a lie, his hand is not his own.
Because, TJ, “Cheesecake” is a female reference, and Ctyx is a boy.
(For now…he hasn’t messed with the spell on Tiffie yet…)
Never heard of it use for a female, though the closes i get is for some photo of female, o well, I guess we wait and see the next page.
hey TJ, go google “cheesecake photos ” of the late 1930’s all the way up to the mid 50’s
Cheesecake is the feminine form of Beefcake. 🙂
Is it wrong that my favorite person on this page is the book?
The book is just so delightfully mean, and funny about it too.
Sometimes I wish I was more more like that book, except human.
I bet I can p!!s more people off than that book.
I see this as, the girl is dead. The Fractured made her, gave her the personality, and she thinks she really is Mira (maybe not, not sure)… but is really a fake.
MNH, I was just thinking the same, that book is one of my favorite characters
Elfguy, im sure you could, but why?
THE CAKE THE IS A LIE
