The last bubble is what worries me – I believe you meant “the guy that can’t figure out which evil plan he’s being yelled at for doesn’t get to judge!” but what you put up there…
And yes, good king is evil. That’s what makes him a good king – he goes to _any_ lengths to assure his people’s safety and prosperity. He should be able to keep them straight, tho – maybe he’s getting old.
Apart from the assassination I’m not actually sure any of that qualifies as being evil. I think Peonie’s definition of “evil” is limited to anything she doesn’t like or doesn’t understand. She probably thinks the constitution of the land is evil too…oh wait.
After what happened to the previous priests, I’m not so sure they are gonna have a lot of volunteers for further experiments. Apart from anything else there is the way Tiff herself reacted, and given how she likes to spread malicious slurs about the clergy I suspect there would be a lack of enthusiasm even if a straightforward way were found. She made her bed, now she has to wear her silk negligee to it.
As for Kings:
Q:What do you call a king that doesn’t play hardball?
A: Overthrown.
Q:What do you call a country that has a king that doesn’t play hard ball?
A: Conquered.
Q:What do you call citizens of a land that has a king that doesn’t play hardball?
A: Doesn’t matter, slaves don’t have names.
@TheOneAndLonely
Be fair to his Maj, Peonie doesn’t seem to get what affairs of state involve, so virtually anything could be what is getting her all in a tizzy this time. He picked the top three, breaking up a couple because if they allied their combined lands would threaten his own, nicking some money (to fill his kingdom’s coffers and not the aggresive Rus’s kingdom), and an assassination. Any of those could have set the woolly minded romantics off on a tirade (and Peonie is certainly a Romantic with a capital “R”), he took his best shot.
I guess it’s a good thing the king didn’t mention his plans to sell the orphanage’s children into forced slave labor or his plan to turn the homeless into an affordable meat byproduct. Then again Peonie would probably still put Tiffany’s situation at the top of the list.
Also in the kings defense is the fact that this particular issue, Tiffanies enfemenization, is probably not a plot of his at all but either a delayed effect of Faden’s spell, now that she’s not fighting it as much, or a new effect caused by that necklace.
Can’t help wondering if these attacks are part of a massive plot against him, a series of smaller individual attacks or just some of the less well known groups trying to attend the ball.
Also hoping that Nymph is still alive and manipulative copy gets her comeupance.
@CrypticMirror, although Peonie is a. fairly obsessed with Tiffany and b. not at all interested in affairs of state. So is it more likely that she’s yelling about his feminisation of the warrior, or an assassination that he *cough* had no involvement in?
@zero, I think he should try combining those two plans.

Not liking much the text crunching. Makes it hard to read.

…It reads like a bad translation. >,>
Mistake or no, the last panel made me laugh. I like text heavy. 🙂
Admit it, Mr. Artist: You sketch Peonie naked first and then draw the clothes over that, don’t you? :p
Rock: who wouldn’t? 🙂

Also: Peonie’s hair color – golden brown, same as on the Peonie Jello-clones.
Mmm, Peonie Jello-clones – because Peonie needed to be more jiggly.

Its everything except the assassination that comes off as evil.
Peonie’s conscience not withstanding….And I agree a monarch needs to protect his subjects…
But I think the Priests should be trying to majik Tiff back to Male so that Peonie can get a hold of his/her ‘sword.’

Now that you’ve taken the helm of Exiern I’m wondering if you’ll be taking control and restarting Exiern:Dark Reflections?
Why is Peonie grabbing her chest in panel three?
Because everyone wants to. Even Peonie.
While I do like a bit of scheming, I would’be have thought the king would be able to make a better guess as to the yelling…

BTW, I still think all this is part of a subterfuge to force Peonie to take a husband.
