Begin Infodump… NOW!
Show don’t tell that is the main tenet of comics. But some time the problem is showing is boring as hell. There was a bunch of little things that I wanted people to know but at the same time they were not essential to the actual story. Worse the showing of these little things was pretty boring. So it was time for an info dump.
I first considered using our crazy old man narrator (Mac) to deliver the info. The problem in Mac has a tendency to go for the dramatic and long winded speeches. The info dump out of his mouth was becoming a 3 hour rambling and incoherent lecture. What I needed was the facts to be delivered by a hyper teen on a sugar high.
Thus Mackenzie was born. I filled in the other maid around her because I couldn’t imagine someone this crazy being in charge of anything.
I got to say I am pleased with this page. I really enjoy the little moments in a story where people are just talking and being them selves. Even though these maid were created as the soul purpose of delivering data I really enjoy this moment among them.
Discussion ¬
I agree with the blonde one.
As for the info dump. Hey, if it works it works and if you get a new funny character out of it, so much the better.
Alveric
Panel two rules.
I don’t have the attention span for that many words. Sorry.
I very nearly have a new favourite character.
The animated TV series “Johnny Test” and “Fairly Oddparents”
use the trope of the television announcer telling the characters
JUST WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW JUST THAT MINUTE.
(Well… they’d HAVE too, or you have characters wasting time.)
I’ve experienced it myself although I can’t recall the particulars.
@MrGBH Which one is that?
Ah the ever popular “never found the body” for Mira. I still hope she was taken to the palace for treatment and some convoluted and convenient plot twist conspires to bring her into close proximity of Tiffany and brings out Tiff’s maternal side. Just because I want to see Tiff’s horror at having a maternal side.
I love those little moments too.
Caffeine: It’s a hell of a drug.
I am personally hoping she actually is undead. There’s not enough undead things in the world. We need more undead things? Yes? Yes.
But you can’t leave them like that…..
whose the sister!!!??? the one whose a witch, what you did here was start another plot line 🙂
This has to be the best “info dump” I have ever read. And I agree with you MrGBH, I like her. And I cant wait until ‘Tiff’ gets a chance to “help” her get off of the sugar/Caffeine High.
@ LookBeyond..Maternal Side! That is one sick twisted idea…You fit in well around here. 😉
I think Mackenzie should be Tiffany’s sidekick. Oh the hilarity that would ensue XD
I laughed out loud. Both at Panel 2 and the last panel. Poetry about the hollowness of being…ROFL!
Maybe the real girl is back in the village, oblivious, and the one we saw was a magical projection of the boy’s attempt to stay normal.
Love random exposition maid. 🙂
Babbling Girl reminds no of “Heidi” over at “El Goonish Shove”.
But “Heidi” is that way naturally.
