I know more than a few girls that would love to be turned into guys if the process turned them into bodybuilders.
I also know a few guys that would react much like Brother Thomas upon being turned into a sex-kitten.
On a more story-related note: I don’t particularly blame Brother/Sister Thomas/Teresa for wanting to stay a girl. His/her first reactions were “I’ve got HAIR!” and “I’m finally sexy now”. He had some major body-image issues. And if he was gay, and retained his sexual orientation. He just got a nice huge pool of hunks that he can sleep with. (I gather from his reactions that he’s not particularly stringent on the “sex is sin” mentality).
Also I’ve read way too many TG/TF stories, so I’ve seen a whole bunch of reactions and the reasonings behind them. Teresa is a rather happy case, (s)he got a functioning and attractive body, his mind wasn’t broken in the process, and there are ways to return her to her original sex if (s)he chooses.
Yep, that’s my theory too. The reversal spell worked, except Teressa simply didn’t want to go back to being Thomas, and so he stayed a she. Rather straight forward. And if you ask me, nothing wrong with it.
One of the lesser known facts of the world is that a decent percentage of children are born “ambigious”, their sex organs hadn’t fully developed when they were born. What the doctors do is surgically complete the process for the child, and as the child has a gender generitcally (XY or XX chromosones) the odds are you can figure out what it was supposed to be.
But what I’ve wondered is, what about when you can’t? What about when its so ambigious you could go either way? What then? What if the doctor guesses wrong?
‘Um, lets go with a female.’ But its actually an XY, so you end up with a hairy woman? (unless you realize the mistake later and start pumping her full of estrogen at puberty)
So there are probably at least a few people out there who literally have the wrong body and would love to switch, and if it made them very attractive in the process? Woo hoo!
Something makes me think Brother Thomas really isn’t trying in her/his attempt to reverse the spell.
She/he is having too much fun with what she/he has right now.
Hmmm. Looks like the spell Faden cast isn’t -completely- unbreakable, after all. That is sure to make Tiffany happy when she hears about it. ^^
If there’s an order of priestesses equal to the all-boys order Thomas belonged to, she could possibly join up with them. Or she could keep doing whatever she’s doing and probably disappear into the crowd.
Eric, the whole issue is so ridiculously more complex than even you are making it that it can make your head hurt.
One thing to keep in mind is that almost all cases of ambiguous genitalia are due to hormonal imbalances that can be caused by a variety of things. Typically, it is not something that is going to go away as the individual ages. So you aren’t going to “end up with a hairy woman”.
We are also starting to discover that the xx/xy split isn’t as definitive as we once thought.
If it were as simple as assigning genders based on the presence or absence of the “y” chromosome, doctors would never get it wrong. We CAN test for it, you know.
Well, how much do we know about the doctrine of this order, anyways? Just because ‘Thomasina’ “he’s not particularly stringent on the “sex is sin” mentality).” does NOT mean that (s)he is PERMITTED to behave so – might be a vow of chastity involved here.
Mind you, I’ve not yet seen ANY behaviour from him/her yet that implies lustfulness or ‘loose behaviour’ – Teresa might be seriously straining a vow of stoicism or ‘rejection of material possessions’, but she’s not done more than flirt a little (and be a bit of a bitch).
And as I said, we don’t know how STRICT this order is – IIRC Tiff and the Northerners have a REAL dislike for them and their ‘evangelism’ (go look up Canadian Residential Schools for how well religious orders have treated indigenous peoples in our OWN history); that “HOLD IT RIGHT THERE” might be an indication of the restrictive nature of the order (“Thine priestly orders are for life; Thou shalt never leave.”)
By the by, what happened to the high priest with the Elvis-pompadour? Is (s)he doing the reversal ceremony but just not in the foreground? (then again, wouldn’t HE be the one telling Teresa not to leave, being his/her immediate superior?)
I’ve always been interested in media that explores gender issues. I’m perfectly happy being male, but frustrated with the emphasis most cultures put on gender roles. Like, there are definitive ways males and females are supposed to act and dress, and daily work and activities they are supposed to enjoy, and these have almost the force of law in most places.
There ARE inherent differences between the sexes, physical and psychological, but within those boundaries there’s a spectrum of variation that should only be imposed or limited by the individual.
Me thinks Brother Thomas prefers to be a sister. Though I will admit that (S)he does seem to like the hair, the cloths, the shopping and being a tease.
if gay was carried over as still craving dick(homo male –> hetero chick) how do you explain typhon’s apparent(heavily implied) love of pussy and now that he has one he wants it filled(hetero male to hetero chick(he shows a distinct lack of interest in his own t!!s or piphony’s when they went cloths shopping even commented on it))

A lot of guys would be willing to be turned into girls, if the reversal spell would give them Arnold Schwarzenegger physiques.

But yeah, heinously complex set of issues there.

…. Why are you blocking out the dudes’ nipples?
@Eric: Needs citation.
@Kona: Yeah, 3.7 million years of primate evolution and 4,000 years of societal pressure did NOTHING to develops gender differentiation. ::eye roll::

Ah, so this comic strip IS more than bimbos on parade if it can engender transgender chat of this level.
